Hospitalized
Journal Entry: Sat Oct 20, 2007, 5:19 PM
I went to the hospital the other day. For the last few days I have been having trouble with some chest pain when I swallow. First I took a trip to my school's nurse, who then referred me to the urgent care clinic of Group Health hospital. Once I got there I waited about 5 hours before I finally got to see a doctor (so much for urgent). The doctor thinks I have acid reflux. I could not disagree more. Acid reflux doesn't feel like this... I feel like here's a small tear in my esophagus opening up more and more as the days go by. My heart and lungs hurt as well. Especially when I swallow. What is happening to me?

Something I've learned from writing Requiem, is that your story never turns really turns out the way you initially thought it would. Sure you can have ideas of where you want it to go, but how you get there is an amazing process of imagination that I cannot even begin to describe. I always had ideas of certain events to use during the story, and when I put those ideas into words I would think of other things that would lead up to that or compliment that. and suddenly, after about twenty or so paragraphs, I have something that actually looks nothing like I originally thought it would. It morphed, it changed, and as my experiences with my characters both in the story and in other places altered the way I viewed my characters. Those initial events that I knew just HAD to be in the story, started getting filtered out as the personalities of the characters changed.
Honestly, writing is a very interactive process. Sometimes it seems as if it has a life of its own, maybe even acting of its own will. Sure I can sort of shape where its going, but really, I'm just along for the ride. Don't worry about where you start, in fact don't even think about where you'll start. Just start. Bring up notepad or word or grab a pencil and a sheet of paper and just start writing. You'll be surprised where your imagination takes you.

Funny you think they should be on a book cover. I've thought many of times about writing a story about these two. I've got an idea about how the middle would go and how it would end, but I can't come up with a way to start it.

Pretty much. People usually complain if I don't start out with my gryph-cry. So just for you, I'll mix it up.
